What is your style?
-
My style is best described as documentary wedding photography, sometimes referred to as reportage or candid wedding photography. I focus on capturing genuine moments, natural emotions and the atmosphere of your wedding day as it unfolds.
Rather than constantly directing or posing people, I work unobtrusively in the background, documenting the laughter, happy tears, excitement and all those little moments that make your wedding unique. Alongside this, I also take a small number of relaxed family group photographs and beautiful couple portraits.
How do you work?
-
Relaxed, discreet and professional. I will be in the background recording what is going on in an unobtrusive way with no need need to set shots up. My aim is not to take over the day but be a part of it with good interaction with the guests to really capture the all the fun and excitement.
Do you take family group shots?
-
I would suggest taking some family groups but would try to keep these to a minimum. They are a piece of family history so why not take a few while everybody is looking their best and you have a professional photographer at hand! They shouldn't take too long if we have a plan - I suggest making a list of the ones we need and making sure everyone who is needed is told in advance.
Would you meet us before the wedding day?
-
It is great to meet you at the venue and have a walk round and talk about the wedding day and what to expect. I can give tips and advise on what I think works but ultimately it is your wedding day and I will listen to your ideas, aspirations and requirements for the photography. It is really important to get together a week or two before the wedding - that way you will have everything finalised and what we talk about will be fresh in our minds come the wedding day.
How many photographs will we receive?
-
A full-day wedding typically results in several hundred carefully edited images. I don't set a fixed limit; every wedding is different. My aim is to deliver all the photographs that help tell the complete story of your day.
What if it rains?
-
Nobody wants it to rain but if it does you just need to embrace it! Make sure you have an umbrella or two. It is all part of the story of your day - stand in a puddle in your wellies. We would have talked through the options of taking pictures inside and I do very many winter weddings where everything is taken inside so this is not a worry to me.
How long after the wedding before we see the photography?
-
My aim is to have everything edited by the end of the following week - I will email a link to my client area - this is where you and your guests can view the photography and also order prints.
I also give a sneaky peek weblink the week after your wedding with a story board of around 50 images of your wedding day - great to see on your honeymoon!
Do we get an album?
-
There is nothing better than looking at your wedding photography in an album - 100+ pictures in a magazine style book - a mix of black and white and colour - individually designed pages - a range of sizes and options.
You do not have to have an album though. I can supply the photography on a USB memory stick - but make sure you do something with them - get them printed or make a book online. There will be a lot of stunning shots on there and it would be a shame to leave them in a drawer!
Are engagement shoots included?
-
Yes abosolutely as it is great way to get to know each other and you will get a beautiful set of portraits. I often cover weddings where the couples are a little bit nervous or maybe dont like theit picture being taken. They soon relax in to it and often enjoying the experience before we have finished!!
Will you travel?
-
Absolutely. Although I'm based in Harrogate and photograph many weddings throughout North Yorkshire, York, Leeds and the surrounding areas, I regularly travel across the UK for weddings.
Over the past 20 years I have photographed weddings at venues ranging from country houses and castles to marquees and private estates. I also accept destination wedding commissions in Europe and overseas.
Will my photos be used on social media?
-
It is great to be able to showcase your wedding with a post to my social media platforms - I would usually tag in the venue so that they can see them too. If you don't want me to do this then just let me know!
Do we need a second photographer?
-
The vast majority of the work on this site is photographed by me covering the wedding working alone. On the occasions when a second photographer is required, such as a home first for both the bride and the groom, I would suggest bringing someone along. Should you need a second photographer there is a further charge of £250.
When should we book our wedding photographer
-
Most couples book 12–24 months before their wedding date, particularly for popular summer Saturdays. If you have a date in mind, it's always worth getting in touch as early as possible to check availability.
